My family adopted our saint bernard, Edward, when he was only a few months old. When we got him people could not tell if he was real or just a stuffed animal because of his cute face and all his fur. I still remember people asking if they could pet our bunny as we carried him into public areas! Over the past five years Edward has grown to be 170 pounds of love. He always wants to be near people, and if someone is gone he will wait right by the door until they return.
Edwards breed was traditionally used to guard the grounds of Switzerland’s Hospice Saint Bernard and also to save lost and injured travelers in the snowy mountains. Because saint bernards have so much fur it is almost impossible to bing Edward inside, even if there is a warning for the cold. That is why I took his picture in the snow because it is his favorite place to be.
